Several students from outside India join our lab every year during the main bee season (November - March) to perform experiments for their master or PhD theses. All these studies mainly focus on comparative studies of honey bee biology. We have colonies of the three major Asian honey bee species, Apis florea, A. cerana, A. dorsata on campus and the excellent facilities at NCBS allow all kinds of molecular studies. Unfortunately, we haven't host foreign students in the last two years due to the Covid Pandemic, but we had one Indian student, Aiswarya Prasad, from Philipp Engels's group at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, collecting gut samples from Asian honey bee species during August and September 2021.
